The news of Google Launching Dropbox has added much to the most popular cloud storage and syncing service on famous mobile and desktop platforms (Android, Linux, iOS, OS X, Windows etc). Google is offering free 2GB initial storage space, and will continue this offer for the promotion of their services and beta-testing preview releases. The level of success and fame which Google Dropbox has earned no other competitors ( Amazon Cloud Drive, Microsoft SkyDrive and SugarSync etc) could achieve.
The next expected step of the Google is the cloud storage and syncing game. As Google is handling hosts photos/videos with Picasa Web, music with Google Music and documents with Google Docs, but the offer to have a unified online storage space must be some time taking.
“People familiar with the matter” who claim that Google will soon be launching a Dropbox-like service called Google Drive, This is the authentic news from The Wall Street Journal.
TheWall Street journal also states that;
“Google Inc. is close to launching a cloud-storage service that would rival one of Silicon Valley’s hottest start-ups, cloud-storage provider Dropbox Inc., according to people familiar with the matter”.
Hopefully the service launch will happen in the coming few weeks or even can take months time. Another intersting feature besides this Dropbox is Dropbox’s “freemium” model in which a small amount of free space is offered for home and small business use. But don’t worry about the large space, the matter is just pay and buy the large space.
The source tells about the rumour Google cloud storage services, can offer extra free space right in the begining. Just like Microsoft’s SkyDrive offers 25GB free space. I guess the offer will be more than enough to convice the users from 2GB or 5GB free space to quite sufficient shift platforms. Start thinking about the damn good offer as its really a close integration with Android and other Google services as well.
